I previously spent 40 years working in the legal profession mainly dealing with property disputes. Having time on my hands I joined Catford Cycling Club in 2008 and became an active riding member and also taking on a number of Committee roles including Membership Secretary, lead organiser of the club’s prestigious annual event the Hell of the Ashdown and team car driver with the club’s Elite Racing Team Catford Equipe Banks. My involvement with Coney Hall Cycle Works started in 2011 as a result of casual conversations with Erik who had been referred to me by members of the club as someone looking for a business partner for his vision of opening a cycle shop in the South East following his previous success as a pro rider and cycle shop owner in New Zealand. Before long we had found the right premises in Coney Hall, West Wickham and opened in November 2013 selling new and secondhand bicycles with accessories and a fully equipped workshop to carry out repairs and servicing. Over the past 8 years Coney Hall Cycle Works has gone from strength to strength and it is difficult to come across a rider in West Wickham and the surrounding area who has not paid us a visit. We intend to see this continue in the future.

I have bikes in my DNA. From exploring his dad’s farm at the age of six to racing in Europe, to starting my own bike shop at 22 in New Zealand, cycle-touring the world in 1997/98 through to working in Bikeshops in four countries and establishing an iconic bike shop in South East London in 2013, there is little I can’t help you with when it comes to your cycling. With Coney Hall Cycle Works these experiences have been put to good use. With an ever-expanding stock of vintage and obsolete bicycle parts, parts that are becoming harder to source from new, and a huge breadth of mechanical, practical knowledge Coney Hall is fast becoming known as the go to bike shop for all serious cyclists.
